History of Web Design
I mentioned in the previous entry that I have been coding websites since I was 11. I won't be showing everything that I made but more of the highlights and how my sites used to look.
Here is the first true website I made in 2013.
This is was the index page for a website I made called "Gamers Pwn Community" (abbreviated as GPC). In summary it was a gaming community page that would house the latest in gaming news, reviews, technology information as well as community memes & screenshots.
Time for the long story...
In 2013 my cousin created a successful facebook page called "The Great Internet." It was a community page to appreciate the internet and post funny memes and news on the internet. This inspired a younger me to copy my cousins homework and create my own community called "Gamers Pwn Community." Which, believe it or not also became successful and peaked at 432 followers. I remember having so much dedication to that facebook page, I regularly posted and had a lot of passion for the page. I posted the same things I would post to the site, game/tech news, the hottest and latest information on new games, easter egg guides, cheat codes and especially memes. I eventually made a twitter profile, youtube channel then a website for this community.
Eventually however, and sadly I don't even remember what happened, but the page was deleted. All of my beloved memes and archives, lost to time. Sadly I have no archives that this page even existed other than the website. Sometimes I wish things like this could be recovered.
This is was the news page, consisting of mostly bullshit news that I made up except for the latter 3 (yes, at the time Mirror's Edge was the most popular game to play on the Ocular Rift).
Sadly this was all I publically posted.
Let's take a look at the first bit of news because that one has a story.
In 2014 was I would call the birth of the ipad babies and Proto-Gen-Alpha, gaming on ipad was becoming extremely popular and once exclusive PC and/or console games that were being ported over at the time was getting more attention and features. Which my friend at the time & I were hardcore PC gamers around this era. My friend went to this wild conclusion that since ipad was getting more popular and more attention that it would replace PC gaming, which we treated that fact as if it was a threat to our way of life. Thus I made this absurd news article about it (which sadly the full version has been lost).
Here was the reviews section, where I reviewed games & glitches.
Yet, the screenshots never came...well they did but the page died soon after so I lost interest.
I have a lot of fond memories with this era of myself. Would I ever start another gaming community again? I have & have done so multiple times since the death of GPC whether successful or not. I've always had a desire to start SOME kind of internet community and in a way I've made multiple more after GPC. GPC was not my first gaming community, that would be the Ck Army but GPC was the community that really pushed my desire to create websites & to create bigger & better communities.
